FAQ's

Although there are no known complications, we do not allow it.

The skin around the eyebrows can be slightly pink after the treatment, but this goes away within next hour or two. The colour is 50% darker than the final result. The final result is visible after a week when a layer of pigmented skin peels off. It is important to moisturize treated skin daily with a greasy anticeptic cream like Homeoplasmine or Bepanthen – once or twice a day.

The period of time depends on your skin and lifestyle. It is recommended to have a follow-up treatment at least once a year.

The sensitivity differs from person to person. We always use a numbing cream, which allows our clients to relax during the treatment.

When your natural eyebrows disappear because of chemotherapy, micropigmentation is a good alternative. Micropigmentation is not possible up to 6 months after the chemotherapy.

Microshading takes about 8-12 months, depending on your skin characteristics, partly because it is rather non-intrusive in nature and allows only small amounts of pigment in the skin. Five weeks after your first appointment, it is necessary to come back for a retouching, when it is also possible to improve the shape or colour.

Modern professionals tend to classify eyebrow tattooing (permanent make -up) as one of the oldest methods at the beginning of facial pigmentation, when a wide range of beauty supplies and sophisticated pigments were not yet accessible, and evolving beauty industry could not achieve everything. Also, tattoo machines used to be far too rough for fine facial treatment. As a result, the skin is often overloaded with pigment and becomes very difficult to get rid of later: the pigment can stay for 10 years or more.

Eyebrows can change colour over time and may develop a blue, grey or green hue. It happens when the tattoo pigment of old sits in the skin for many years.

Before the treatment

Alcohol, excessive coffee, aspirin or other blood thinners should not be used 24 hours before the treatment.

Please consult your doctor if you are taking blood thinners and ask if it is possible to temporarily stop taking them.

Do not chemically peel your skin for at least 2 weeks before and after treatment. Regenerating skin expels the pigment.

The treatment may be more sensitive during menstruation.

Botox treatments can be done at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the treatment. Take into account that your facial expression may change.

On scar tissue, the pigment may not adhere as well. Keep this in mind too when you have your eyebrows pigmented more often.

The treatment

Your appointment for a micropigmentation starts with an interview. During this interview, you will receive information about the treatment, aftercare and risks. You can then sign the consent form.

After that, a tehcnician will start measuring your brows. Before the actual treatment starts, the brows are designed with a cosmetic pencil or a special pen. The anatomy of your face and the ‘golden ratio’ are taken into account. Only when you both – you and the brow stylist agree that the shape is perfect, symmetric and you are pleased with it, the procedure of micropigmentation starts: you can take place on the treatment table and make sure you feel comfortable.

The whole treatment including the consultation usually takes 1-1.5 hours.

It is advised to have a touch-up every year. These treatment sessions take an hour on average. If your pigment disappeared completely, the shape should be created from scratch and is it considered to be a new Micropigmentation, not a touch-up, so please make sure to come back while the contours of your brows are still somewhat visible.

For some people it is possible that the skin expels the pigment. In this case, it is possible to schedule an extra treatment.

Aftercare

In the next 4 days after the treatment, your eyebrows should not come into contact with water.

  • Day 1-4: If necessary, dab the area with a clean cotton pad to remove excess plasma and reduce crusting. Apply Homeoplasmine once a day for 7 days at bedtime, gently with a cotton pad.
  • Day 5: It is fine to wet your eyebrows, but do not rub or touch them. Do not apply any moisturiser or make-up products to your eyebrows.
  • Days 6-10: You can gently wash your eyebrows with lukewarm water. Do not use any products. Once all crusts have fallen off naturally, it is fine to go back to your normal make-up routine.

Avoid sun-bathing up to 3 weeks after the treatment, if it is unavoidable to stay in the sun for a prolonged periods of time, consider wearing a baseball cap and SPF 50 cream on your brows.

Avoid excessive sweating in the first 10 days after treatment, it includes visits to the sauna and vigorous work-out regimen. This causes the skin to expel the pigment.
